Point ‘n’ Swing is a highly dedicated, energetic ensemble of 17 to 21 musicians whose mission is to have fun bringing the classic big band sounds of the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s Swing Era and popular tunes of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s to life for your event. We are a professional organization passionately engaged in the pursuit of live performance excellence.
The Point ‘n’ Swing sound is ideal for weddings, dances, summer concerts, fundraisers, anniversary parties, theatrical presentations, and any event in which the sound of a live big band fits. Music styles include merengue, samba, rumba, tango, cha-cha, waltz, jive, hustle, bolero, foxtrot, swing, and quickstep—something for everyone. Stage presentation options include anything from casual summer attire to formalwear and the use of traditional big band box-style music stands.
Our band stands apart from others in that we rehearse every week year round, so our sound is always fresh and polished. We’re able to customize our performance for your special occasion, choosing set lists from our very extensive library. As a result of a four years experience in close collaboration with and coaching from a well-known professional ballroom dance studio, we are able to accurately render the music of every dance style from the dancer’s point of view. In addition, our core group of musicians are loyal to the group due to the high level of musical breadth and exposure we offer them, so you’ll always know who you’re getting every time. This has the added benefit of cutting down on musician costs, so that we can pass the savings on to you, our customers. If you thought you could never afford a big band, try us - you may be surprised.
Established in 1998, Point ‘n’ Swing is now celebrating its 12th anniversary, with a resume of over 70 performances to date and counting. We started as the big band for a local technology company and wanted to say thanks for nurturing our beginnings and pay homage to the computer industry by incorporating it into our name, so we translated the term “point ‘n’ click” into “Point ‘n’ Swing.” Our name sounds strange, but it means a lot to us. Proudly, four members of that original band are still with us today.
